Terms of Use

Last updated 26 July 2026

Before you publish: replace every [SQUARE BRACKET] placeholder below with your real details, then delete this box. These pages are a solid starting draft, not legal advice — have them reviewed if you want certainty.

These terms govern your purchase and use of CofferShield. By buying or using the software you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

What you are buying

CofferShield is desktop software licensed as a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. Your purchase includes the current version and free updates to that product for as long as we continue to publish them.

Your licence

We grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use CofferShield on devices you personally own or control, for your own personal or household use. You may not resell, redistribute, sublicense, rent or publish the software or its files, nor remove or alter any notices within it. You may not reverse engineer the software except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.

You hold the only key — what that means

Read this part carefully. CofferShield encrypts your vault with a key derived from your master password. We do not have that password, we do not hold a copy of your vault, and there is no back door, recovery code or reset mechanism.

If you lose your master password, or lose your vault file without a backup, your data is permanently unrecoverable. Not by us, not by anyone. This is the direct consequence of the design you are buying. Keep your master password somewhere safe, and keep backups of your vault file.

Backups are your responsibility

Because your vault lives on your own device, protecting it against hardware failure, theft, loss, accidental deletion or ransomware is up to you. We strongly recommend keeping an encrypted backup copy of your vault file in a separate physical location.

Not professional advice

CofferShield includes calculators, net worth tracking and estate-planning features. These are organisational tools only. They do not constitute financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing produced by the software is a legally valid will, trust or testamentary instrument. Consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction to make your estate plan legally binding. Consult a qualified adviser before making financial decisions.

Live price lookup

Price data, where you choose to enable it, comes from third-party providers. It may be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and we make no warranty as to its accuracy. Do not rely on it for trading decisions.

Warranty disclaimer

The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the software or these terms is limited to the amount you actually paid for it. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, however caused.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of the above may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Payments and Merchant of Record

All purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy handles payment, invoicing and applicable sales tax, and their terms apply to the transaction itself. Refunds are governed by our refund policy: 14 days from purchase, no questions asked.

Availability and changes

We may update the software, change its features, or discontinue it. Discontinuation does not disable software you already own — your vault is a file on your machine and keeps working with the version you have, offline, indefinitely.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
